Resource specific requirements

All Medication resources must contain at least one Coding element in the code element of the resource. As with all Codings, this must contain a system and value. Example:

Adding this code to a Medication resource is an assertion that you are guaranteeing the nature of the Medication, and such codes should be treated as immutable. There is no automatic pathway which permits the removal or subsequent amendment of an code once it has been added to a Medication; please contact PKB for further details as to the manual corrective pathway in such a case.
A single Medication resource must not have more than one code#coding element with the same system, e.g. multiple SNOMED CT codes. Codings from different schemes representing the same medication are acceptable.
