HSCN Connectivity Migration - 14th July 07:00 BST
Introduction
Patients Know Best (PKB) collaborates with RedCentric to provide customers/partners access to PKB services over the Health and Social Care Network (HSCN). For this communication to be secure and reliable, PKB and RedCentric review infrastructure state and plan upgrades when needed.
An upgrade is scheduled to take place in July, here is the plan for the migration:
Plan
Steps we have already performed (non-user impacting):
Provisioned and configured the infrastructure
Verified the infrastructure by connecting to it
Steps we will perform during the maintenance window - 14th July 0700 BST:
Switch traffic to flow through the new infrastructure, this will affect all HSCN traffic for all PKB services.
Both PKB and RedCentric will verify connectivity by using their corresponding monitoring solutions
In the case of an issue, a rollback will be performed during the maintenance window
If there are errors reported by customers after the migration, a rollback can be also performed.
If a rollback is required it will take no more than a few minutes.
What customers need to be aware of:
We expect the migration to take 1 hour at most.
Data that will be sent during the migration window may not reach PKB services as there could be interruption in connectivity during that window. Customers may observe connection resets, failure to establish a connection or HTTP errors during this period. This relates both to the migration and in the case of a rollback. Any rollback needed will take place during the 1 hour window that we mentioned in #1.
Data will not reach PKB services during the migration window and will need to be re-sent by customers.
