ADT^A28

ADT^A28 message should ideally be used to send the demographics for a new patient and thereby create a record in PKB for them, and the ADT^A31 message for updating the demographics of an existing patient. However, use of either message will be processed by PKB in the same manner so it’s not essential you are able to differentiate as described.

These messages will need to consist of the MSH and PID segments, adhering to the scope requirements.

NOTE: The A28 and A31 HL7 messages do support other feed capabilities such as:

• Adding / Updating Medications

• Adding / Updating Allergies

• Adding / Updating Diagnosis

• Adding / Removing patients from a PKB Team
