Adding Patients To WLV Teams In PKB

Adding Patients To WLV Teams In PKB

What Triggers

Once it has been decided what the trigger is for automatically adding patients to Waiting List Validation teams in PKB, the HL7 ADT^A28 API can be used to achieve this automated teams workflow.

The ADT^A28 message must include a MSH, PID and ZTM segment. The ZTM segment is used to specify which team the patient should be added to.

HL7 Credentials

This requires HL7 credentials. If you are a customer with an existing demographics integration with PKB, you will be able to use your existing HL7 credentials for this. Instructions on using PKB HL7 credentials can be found here.
It also requires the use of ‘team aliases’. These are created and provided by PKB.

To specify which new team you want to add a patient to, you must provide the team alias in the ZTM-1 field. It is also necessary to always include the overarching Patient Record Team alias as well, even though the patient is already a member of that team.
Adding a patient to a new team will not affect their membership to any other teams that they are already in.

Recommendations

It is recommended that patients date of birth is always included in the message alongside the mandatory NHS number. Date of birth is used as a security question when patients choose to complete their questionnaires via the email notification. For this reason, it is important to make sure the date of birth is always present in PKB.
