New features

1. NHS App Wayfinder - Mental Health onboarding

Appointments from Mental Health Trusts will now appear on the NHS App appointments page for those trusts that opt into this feature. This means patients can view all their acute, community, and mental health appointments together in one place, just like they do with PKB. Additionally, PKB has incorporated NHS England Mental Health styling for appointments marked with a Mental Health specialty when accessed via the NHS App. We will start enabling this feature for the first Mental Health Trusts that have chosen to adopt it in the next week or so.

New features

1. GP data for any adult in England

We have completed the development of our General Practice (GP) data integration for adults in England. Individuals using NHS login can choose to add their GP data to their PKB record. We are now in the initial phase of our rollout, involving 1,000 patients. We will continue to expand this rollout to include more patients over the coming weeks.

The following core information from GP practices will be accessible in the PKB User Interface (UI) and via our FHIR APIs :

  • Demographics: Personal details such as name, date of birth, and contact information

  • Appointments: Upcoming and past GP appointments

  • Medications: Medications a patient is taking or has taken

  • Diagnoses (Conditions): Recorded medical conditions and diagnoses

Additional GP data, beyond the core GP data visible in the PKB UI, will be accessible via our FHIR APIs. Once we have completed our FHIR migration work for observations, allergies and immunisations, this information will also be visible in the PKB UI:

  • Observations: Clinical notes, measurements, and test results

  • Allergies & Immunisations: Allergy and vaccination records

You can read more about the GP data integration on our manual GP data for any adult in the UK.

Bug fixes

2. Errors when viewing a recently updated appointment

New feature

1. NHS Wales App

Patients can access parts of their PKB record from within NHS Wales App and use NHS login’s encrypted single sign-on to do so. This option is currently only available to users on a regional basis where the region has specified that PKB is their Patient Held Record (PHR) provider.

This allows patients to access their PKB record inside the NHS Wales App interface, for a more seamless and joined-up NHS experience.

Currently, links to the Events & Messages, Plans, Tests, Symptoms, Measurements, Journal & Library pages can all be accessed from within NHS Wales App, alongside a link to open PKB directly in an NHS Wales App web browser.

  • To access PKB 'Events & messages' from NHS Wales App,  click on 'Messages' from the navigation bar and then click on the  'Consultations, events and messages' button.

  • To access PKB ‘Library' from NHS Wales App, click on ‘My health' in the main navigation menu & then 'More health records, results and tools’ & click 'Shared health links’

  • To access PKB 'Plans' from NHS Wales App, click on ‘My health' in the main navigation menu & then 'More health records, results and tools’ & click then 'Plans'

  • To access PKB 'Symptoms', 'Measurements' or 'Journal'  pages from NHS Wales App, click on ‘My health' in the main navigation menu & then 'More health records, results and tools’ & then 'Track your health'

  • To access PKB 'Tests' from NHS Wales App, click on ‘My health' in the main navigation menu & then 'More health records, results and tools’ click on 'Test results'.

  • To access PKB directly from NHS Wales App, click on ‘My health' in the main navigation menu & then 'More health records, results and tools’ and click on ‘Access additional services'

Feature updates

1. Improved handling of incorrect links

We have added a new error message for users accessing invitation links not intended for the logged-in account. Previously, users were automatically logged out in this scenario. Now, instead of logging the user out, an error message will be displayed on the page, informing them that the link does not match their account. This change helps prevent unnecessary session disruptions while ensuring users receive clear guidance.Warning when a link doesn’t match their account.

2. New HTML code supported in plans

We now support additional HTML code in care plan templates so that organisations can:

  • customise dropdown list options with different colours for better visual distinction, for more information see Dropdowns.

  • use hyperlink reference (href) tags for phone numbers, allowing to specify hyperlink name & define the destination URL or action. This enables users to initiate calls directly when clicking on links from a plan, for more information see Additional Attributes.

Bug fixes

1. Patient’s unable to cancel an invitation sent to a carer

We have resolved an issue which prevented a patient from being able to cancel an invitation sent to a carer. For more information on sharing patient records please see How do I share my record with a carer?

2. Information message display

We have resolved an issue where information messages were not spanning the full width of the page. They now display correctly across the intended width.

Feature updates

1. NHS App appointment message content update - Location and attendee

Location and attendees are now displayed on separate lines in appointment messages sent to patients via the NHS App.

2. Updating appointment location display for NHS App Wayfinder

We have updated the response format for the locations provided to the NHS Wayfinder event service from PKB. This update enables the removal of NHS App location suppression, meaning that when location suppression is removed by NHS App, the actual location of an appointment will now be displayed in NHS App instead of the appointment source.

Bug fixes

1. NHS login error messages

We have resolved an issue that was resulting in generic NHS login error messages displaying in some cases where a more specific error message should have been displayed.
