New features
1. Appointment statuses for patient requests
We now support additional appointment statuses for patient requests. When a patient submits a request to reschedule or cancel an appointment, the appointment will display as 'Cancellation in review' or ‘Reschedule in review’ so the patient can easily see which requests are awaiting action. Once the trust updates the appointment, the status will automatically revert to booked or cancelled as appropriate.
2. Carers can complete questionnaires on behalf of patients they care for
Carers can now complete questionnaires that were sent to patients that they care for. When a questionnaire is sent to a patient, their carers get an email notification containing a link which allows them to complete the questionnaire on their behalf. When a carer completes a questionnaire on behalf of a patient, this is made clear in the UI and they are represented on the QuestionnaireResponse resource in the author field.
Feature updates
1. New measurement: Vaping
Patients can now record ‘Vaping’ via the Measurements section of their record.
2. Clinical trials banner added to Events and Messages page
If a patient may be eligible for a clinical trial, they will now see a banner about the trial on both the Home page and the Events and Messages page. We have added the banner to the Events and Messages page so that more patients have the chance to see it. Read more about how PKB supports clinical trials in our manual.
Bug fixes

Feature updates
1. Update to release date format for imaging results
The release date format for imaging results has been updated to align with the format of the entered date.
2. Clinical trials banner button update
We've updated the button text on our clinical trials banner to be more clear. The button now reads 'Choose what to share,' replacing 'Share my record.' We made this change to assure patients that their record will not be automatically shared when they click the banner. For more details on our work with clinical trials, please see our manual.
3. Validating medication data
We now prevent medications with an end date before the start date from being migrated. This ensures that only valid medication data, consistent with the FHIR specification, is surfaced in the user interface (UI).
Bug fixes
1. Dutch translations for privacy notice and user agreement
The privacy notice and user agreement will now appear in Dutch if the language is selected during patient registration.
2. Link in email when patient added to a new team
When a patient is added to a team the email notifying the patient and their carer, where applicable, contains a link to our main website, this now correctly takes the user to Patients Know Best .
3. Invalid email updates
We now prevent FHIR patient resource updates that contain invalid email addresses from being processed. This ensures only valid demographic information is surfaced in the UI.

New features
1. FHIR operation to check carer details
Organisations can now get a list of carers for a given patient using the new $carers FHIR custom operation.
The API call takes a patient’s NHS number and returns a bundle of Consent and Patient resources. The Patient resources represent the carers and include their contact details and registration status. The Consent resources describe the privacy access the carers have to the patient’s record. Only carers who have access to overlapping privacy labels with the organisation will be returned.
To read more about this custom operation and see examples, please see our dev wiki.
2. Romanian now a supported language
We have added Romanian to our list of supported languages. For a full list of the 23 languages we support please see What languages does PKB support?
Feature updates
1. Release date for delayed data
We have added a release date to delayed tests, radiology, and documents. This appears within the source information for data points that previously had a delay applied, making it clearer to patients, professionals, and carers when this information was released to the record.
2. Improved format of ‘entered date’ in the source information
We have updated the display of the entered date within the source information for a datapoint. We now use the prefix "Entered date:" This provides a clearer understanding of what this date represents.
Bug fixes
1. Jersey ID now appearing on patient banner
We have resolved an issue to ensure that the Jersey ID /Jersey social security number appears on the patient banner when viewed by a professional.
2. Temporary fix for incorrect GP appointment attendees (EMIS)
We have implemented a temporary fix for incorrectly displayed GP appointment attendees. We now show appointment participants in the appointment description. We'll re-add practitioners as attendees once we've identified and resolved the root cause.

New features
1. SMS notifications for Advanced Questionnaires
We’ve introduced a new feature that allows organisations to send text messages (SMS) via Gov Notify when Advanced Questionnaires are sent to unregistered users.
This feature is currently configurable on an organisation level. To learn more and enable this feature please speak with your PKB Project Manager.
If the feature is enabled by an organisation, and an unregistered user has a mobile number on their record, they will receive an SMS with the following message:
[Service Name]: would like you to answer these questions to help them manage your care. Click here to complete the questionnaire: [LINK]
Unsociable hours safeguard:
To avoid disturbing users during the night, any SMS triggered between 10pm and 6am (based on the user’s recorded time zone) will be queued and sent after 6am.Coming soon:
We will shortly be implementing a URL shortener so that a shorter link can be included in the message, reducing the SMS character count and associated costs.Upcoming improvements:
We will be introducing additional configuration options so that SMS for Advanced Questionnaires can be enabled more granularly, rather than organisation-wide.
Organisations can read more about sending text messages on our manual https://wiki.patientsknowbest.com/space/MAN/4581294112/Gov.notify+for+sending+text+messages+(SMS)
Feature updates
1. Removing an additional “team” label
We’ve removed the word “Team” displayed after the team name from the Edit Sharing, Consent, and Consent Walkthrough pages to avoid duplication in cases where the team name already includes the word “Team”.
2. Multiple clinical trial banners
We now support multiple banners, so if a patient matches more than one trial, they will see each relevant banner in their record. This ensures patients are fully informed about all trials they may be eligible for.
3. Removing excess line break
We have removed the extra line break from the medicines help text so that it now starts cleanly on the next line, improving readability and visual consistency.
Bug fixes
1. Replying to messages from professionals marked as non-contactable
We’ve resolved a bug that was preventing patients from replying to messages initiated by professionals marked as non-contactable. Patients can now respond to any message thread started by a professional, even if that professional is not normally contactable. This fix applies only to direct message threads and does not affect replies to encounters or questionnaires.
Technical improvements
We have updated the system to include some missing translations, ensuring a more consistent and accessible experience for users across supported languages.

2. Additional text on diagnoses & medications
We’ve added additional help text on key treatment decision pages to clarify that the information shown can be entered by either patients or healthcare professionals. This aims to improve transparency and support better understanding of where the data originates.
Bug fixes
1. Journal entries must have a subject
We have resolved an issue that allowed users to create a new Journal entry without adding a subject. Now, each Journal entry must have a subject.
