PRT Welcome Messages

Welcome Message for Patients

When a patient logs into their Patients Know Best (PKB) account, your organisation has the option to display a personalised welcome message. This message is created by the Patient Record Team (PRT) and can be updated at any time by a PRT Coordinator. Displayed prominently on the patient's homepage, it can include key information about your organisation and direct patients to relevant areas within their PKB record or external links, such as your organisation's website.

Visibility of Welcome Messages

Please note:
A patient will only see the welcome message from the first organisation that invited them to PKB. If they are added to multiple teams or organisations, subsequent welcome messages will not be shown.

Team-Specific Information

Speciality teams should use the Information about the Team section to share relevant details. This section is also managed through the Coordinator account under the Institution tab. Patients can view this information under the Sharing section when they click on the specific team they are part of.

Access via NHS App

Patients accessing their PKB record through the NHS App will not see any welcome message. Ensure critical information is available through other visible means when relying on this access route.

Example Welcome Messages

Adding a Web Link To Your Welcome Message

If you want to create a web link in your welcome message, you will need to use the following HTML code

<a href="URL>TEXTYOUWANT</a>

Where you should replace the following:

  • URL- this should be the web address for the site or page you want to link to e.g. https://www.asthma.org.uk/

  • TEXTYOUWANT- this should be the text you want to form the link e.g. click here for more information

So in full your welcome message might say:

There a lot of resources on the Asthma UK website that you may want to refer to, click here for more information

Which will be coded as:

There a lot of resources on the Asthma UK website which you may want to refer to, <a href="https://www.asthma.org.uk/>click here for more information</a>
