Tests

Tests

The ‘Tests’ page displays test results added from all sources.

The page is split into two main tabs, the ‘Latest’ view and a ‘Trend’ view.

Latest View

The ‘Latest’ view shows your most recent test results. It can highlight whether a result is in or out of range and shows whether the value has increased or decreased since your last test.

The top of the ‘Latest’ view shows all of the tests from the date that you most recently received test results. Below this section, the most recent result from all of your other tests are listed, sorted by date.

Trend View

The ‘Trend' view groups tests into panels and plots them on a graph, so you can track changes over time.

Viewing Individual Tests

Click on any test in the ‘Latest’ or ‘Trend’ view to view the history for that test. The page contains a graph, showing the test results over time, as well as a list of results for that test.

For each result, you can see:

Value: This is the test result.

Location: This is the location where the request came from.

Source:  Who has added the test result to the record (if the test result has been sent to PKB via HL7 we display the organisation who sent this data to us).

Comments: These are the comments added with the test result. If the rest result is a textual report, the text will appear in this section and there will be no value.

Lab ID: The unique ID of the report which contained this result.

Range: This is the normal range for the test result.

Date: This is the ‘clinically relevant’ timestamp, usually the date and time that the specimen was taken from the patient.

Receipt by lab: This is when the lab received the specimen.

Lab type: The discipline of the laboratory.

Special Test Statuses

Delayed

Clinics often delay releasing results so they have time to review them. This is standard practice and does not mean your result is abnormal. The system will show you the date and time it will become available to view. PKB emails you when to expect a delayed result, but doesn't notify you when it's ready.

Corrected

If a clinic updates a result, it will be clearly marked ‘Corrected’ in red, along with the time of the update.

Managing Your Results

Finding Tests

Use the 'Search for tests' box (available once the page fully loads).

Adding Tests

Click ‘Add’ result to manually enter an individual test or a full panel (like a ‘Full blood count’). You can add comments, attach files, and set privacy levels.

Deleting

Click the options menu and select ‘Delete’. You can only delete results you manually entered yourself. Deleting a result does not delete the medical discussions attached to it.

Printing

Right-click anywhere on the page and select ‘Print’.
