This Comms Toolkit has been designed to help you communicate with your patients and staff about using PKB with your patients.    

The UK Kidney Association UKKA contracted Patients Know Best (PKB) in 2021 to re-platform its national patient-facing system from PatientView to Patients Know Best. In the four years since, over 50,000 kidney patients have registered across more than 70 renal units across the UK.

• Patients have access to their test results as they are released and will be able to see all of their past results.

• Alongside their kidney test results being sent, patients in England can also benefit from accessing their GP Data (demographics, diagnoses, medications and appointments) when logging in via NHS Login.

• Patients may also benefit if the Kidney Unit is located at a Trust who has procured PKB as their overall Patient Portal and is sending other acute patient data into their record.

PKB features in addition to test results:

• a personal journal - keep a record of your condition

• resource library - access information and support services

• symptom tracker - keep a log of symptoms and share with teams (if needed)

• share your record - with carers or extended health or care teams

• connect wearable devices - and share data with teams in real-time

• store important information - all your diagnoses, medications, allergies or clinical correspondence, seamlessly in one place.
