PUG 2026

PUG 2026

Event Overview: Maternity PKB User Group - 24th June 2026, 12.00pm - 12.45pm

This upcoming session of the Maternity Patients Know Best (PKB) User Group (PUG) will focus on real-world implementations of digitally enabled maternity care. We will explore how leading NHS Trusts are using PKB to transform patient engagement and clinical workflows through Personalised Care and Support Plans (PCSPs) and integrated communication tools.

Session Highlights

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust

Speaker: Paula Beckles (Digital Midwife).

Paula will share the "Imperial experience" of implementing PCSPs within PKB, focusing on the practical steps taken to move templates directly into the platform. Her presentation will cover:

  • Workflow integration: The process of automating PCSPs to be sent ahead of every maternity appointment.

  • Patient agency: How patients select their relevant stage of pregnancy to access the appropriate PCSP template.

  • Staff engagement: The preparation required to support clinicians, including education sessions, video guides, and "crib sheets".

  • Clinical benefits: Enabling staff to view templates in real-time and running reports on completion rates to ensure safety and compliance.

Mid and South Essex (MSE) NHS Foundation Trust

Speakers: Erica White (Programme Director) and Lisa Brocklehurst (Lead Digital Midwife).

The MSE team will present their "Single Digital Front Door" model, providing a borderless maternity record with PKB integrated with the NHS App. They will discuss:

  • The transformation model: Moving away from fragmented digital platforms and paper leaflets toward a unified experience for communication, information, and care planning.

  • Messaging: How the introduction of an asynchronous messaging service supported structured workflows for midwives and enabled flexible communication for patients.

  • Collaborative design: Insights into their work with the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership (MNVP) to co-develop the digital PCSP.

  • Impact and scale: Early results showing a 65% patient registration rate and approximately £90,000 per annum in savings from decommissioning legacy systems.

We look forward to seeing you there for what promises to be a highly valuable session for sharing workflows and peer learning.
