Organisation Staff Registering As Patients
Why Encourage Staff to Register as Patients
When staff experience PKB from a patient's perspective, they gain valuable insight into how the system works. This first-hand understanding makes them more confident and enthusiastic when explaining PKB to patients.
Staff who haven’t used PKB as a patient may find it harder to explain its benefits and features, which could lead to uncertainty.
Registering staff as patients is a quick and effective way to:
Promote PKB internally
Build staff confidence in discussing and using the platform
Strengthen overall patient engagement
What to Know
Some staff members may already be patients at your organisation or at another organisation using PKB and could be accessing their patients' PKB record. However, many may not yet have a PKB record yet.
Staff can register quickly and easily via NHS Login.
To encourage uptake:
Run an internal comms campaign
Use screensavers, staff room posters, newsletters, intranet pop-ups
Refer to the Comms Toolkit for ideas and templates
How to Invite Staff to Register
Direct staff to your organisation’s dedicated PKB page.
This includes all relevant information and a direct NHS Login link for self-registration.
Once registered, staff can:
View which healthcare organisations they’re connected to via the Sharing tab.
Use their record immediately, even if no organisation is currently connected—PKB will automatically connect to any provider that starts sending data.
Important: Staff must use their personal email address for their patient account. Their work email should only be used for their professional PKB account.
